Gilbert Stirling Lee - Cricket anecdote

Always knew that Grandad was special, now in cricket too!
A little anecdote.. Grete, my wife, and I visited at Larkfield with our very small new baby, Kari, to show her off. The grandparents, by this stage, mid '63, permanently in bed, went rather gooey and cooey of course, and Grandad was delighted that we perched Kari at the end of his bed so that he could tickle her with his toe. A moment's attention away to Granny and Kari wriggled and overbalanced off the bed. I caught her half way to the floor. "Well fielded John" came from a rumbling and amused voice at the other end of the bed. He had cricket in his heart!
